Zebra Mussel Hospitality Possibilities Zebra Mussels need to live in a location with a pH level of 7.2 or higher. Looking through a compilation of collected pH levels for different lakes in the Winthrop Maine area during different years, I found many pH levels that would prove to be appropriate for the Zebra Mussel to live in. Here is a table with all of the gathered lakes, the years they were tested, and their pH level at the time.
